The slopes will be bustling this Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. If you look closely, you'll be able to find some deals over the next few days.

Pats Peak in Henniker, N.H., will host its eighth annual Diversity Day Jan. 19 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with $36 lift tickets. That price also includes gear rentals and lesson tips.

“Diversity Day provides an atmosphere that encourages individuals to bring others skiing, snowboarding and tubing, who may believe that this is a sport out of their reach," Jim Wall, director of services, said in a statement. "We want to make the message loud and clear that the opportunity to come to the slopes of New Hampshire is not decided by a person's ethnicity, social or economic background."

Get all your ducks in a row for the third annual Winter Wildquack Duck Race at Black Mountain in Jackson, N.H., on Jan. 17. Teams of yellow rubber ducks slip, crash and slide down the slopes. Just ducky.

Mount Sunapee is holding a month-long Family Values online promotion. For each full-price adult ticket purchased, one child ages 6 through 18 skis or rides for free. Family Values is offered Sunday through Friday excluding holidays through Feb. 1. Each adult must print an online coupon (www.mountsunapee.com) and present it to the ticket window. Limit one free child per adult.

About 25 miles outside Boston in Westford, Nashoba Valley is getting creative with some deals. It has unveiled a "$99 in '09" pass that enables skiers and snowboarders to ride valid Sunday nights for the rest of the season from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for $99. The ski area also has a Jan. 19th special to learn to ski or ride for $50 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. That includes lift ticket, one-hour group lesson and rentals.

The ever-popular Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge visits Maine with stops at Sunday River Jan. 17, Sugarloaf Jan. 18 and Mount Abram Jan. 19. A full load of fun is slated for Saddleback's Family Fun Day Jan. 17.

In Vermont, Bromley will have $39 tickets on Jan. 19. You'll want to hold on to that lift ticket because it is good for $10 off your next holiday or weekend lift ticket at Bromley.

Who says men don't cook? That's all they'll be doing Jan. 17 at Stratton during the Men Who Cook weekend. The Stratton Foundation benefit features local donning their aprons to prepare incredible apps, entrees and desserts. Tickets are $25 in advance.

During National Safety Awareness Week Jan. 17 to 23, Killington will promote the Heads Up campaign to teach riders and skiers about slope safety. Throughout the seven days, there will be loads of Your Responsibility Code and Smart Style information available all over the resort. Events and giveaways also are planned.

Look for $44 lift tickets on Jan. 20 at Okemo, the day Barack Obama takes office as the country's 44th president.

Cross-country skiers have a demo day to try out the latest gear from manufacturers such as Atomic, Fischer and Tubbs at Great Glen Trails on Jan. 17. The network is located at the base of Mount Washington in Pinkham Notch, N.H.
