Wescott, Jacobellis shine at X Games

New Englanders showed their dominance in snowboardcross at the Winter X Games on Friday as Seth Wescott (Sugarloaf, Maine) and Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, Vt.) found their way to the top of the men’s and women’s qualifying results.
Wescott, the gold medalist at the 2006 Olympics and a 2010 U.S. Olympic team member, had the top qualifying time on the men's side (1:34.384) heading into the finals.
Jacobellis, a silver medalist in 2006 and a U.S. team member for 2010, was the top performer in women's qualifying with a time of 1:42.598.
Also qualifying among the top 24 on the men’s side were Ross Powers of Londonderry,Vt. (fourth), Alex Deibold of Manchester, Vt. (11th) and Jonathan Cheever of Saugus, Mass. (20th).
Men’s snowboard slopestyle
Brandon Reis of Peterborough, N.H., was 12th in qualifying and didn’t advance to the finals in men’s Snowboard Slopestyle.
Women’s Skier X
Caitlin Ciccone of Littleton, N.H., placed seventh in qualifying for women’s Skier X.
Men’s Snowboard Superpipe
Louie Vito, a Stratton Mountain School graduate now living in Sandy, Utah, placed eighth in the men’s Snowboard Superpipe.
