Jacobellis wins X Games gold medal

Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, Vt.) won the gold medal in women’s snowboardcross at the Winter X Games on Saturday for her third straight title in the event.

Jacobellis, the silver medalist in the 2006 Olympics and a member of the 2010 U.S. team heading to Vancouver, won with a time of 1:38.145, holding off Helene Olafsen for the victory.

Men’s Snowboardcross

Seth Wescott (Sugarloaf, Maine) placed second in men’s snowboardcross.

The 2006 Olympic gold medal winner and member of the 2010 U.S. team finished in 1:32.510, placing behind defending champion Nate Holland (1:31.942).

Other New Englanders in the men’s snowboardcross finals included Ross Powers (Londonderry, Vt.), who placed ninth, Alex Deibold of Manchester, Vt. (15th) and Jonathan Cheever of Saugus, Mass. (24th).

Women’s Snowboard Superpipe

Kelly Clark of Mount Snow, Vt., had to settle for the silver medal as she was edged by fellow American Gretchen Bleiler. Bleiler had a score of 96.66 while Clark had 96.00.

Hannah Teter (Belmont, Vt.) earned the bronze medal, while Darien, Conn., high-schooler Ellery Holingsworth placed fifth.

Mono Skier X

Two-time Paralympic gold medalist Chris Devlin-Young (Campton, N.H.) was the top qualifier with a two-run time of 2:02.9. Erik Corbett of Glen, N.H., was fifth in qualifying.

Men’s Skiing Superpipe

Simon Dumont of Bethel, Maine, was second in qualifying, with the top eight advancing to the finals.

Also advancing was Tucker Perkins of North Hampton, N.H., who placed fifth.

Dan Marion (Windham, Maine) and Matt Duhamel (Carrrabasset Valley Academy graduate) did not qualify for the finals.
