Local XC skiers compete in 15K race

A trio of cross country skiers with New England ties competed in Monday’s men’s 15-kilometer freestyle race at the Vancouver Olympics.
Former Middlebury College standout Garrott Kuzzy placed 58th with a time of 36 minutes, 41.5 seconds and was followed by Kris Freeman of Andover, N.H., who was 59th in 36:41.6 and another former Middlebury skier, Simi Hamilton, who placed 64th in 37:30.5.
Switzerland’s Dario Cologna won the gold medal with a time of 33:36.3. Italy’s Pietro Piller Cottrer won the silver medal and Lukas Bauer of the Czech Republic won the bronze.
