Stowe Derby will be held Sunday

The Stowe Derby, the oldest downhill/cross-country race of its kind, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Now in its 65th year, the race starts at the top of Mt. Mansfield and winds its way some 16 kilometers down to the village of Stowe.

The course follows the Auto Toll Road for the first 6 kilometers before briefly hooking up with existing cross country trails. The last 6 kilometers of the course are flat and follow the Stowe Recreation Path.

Nearly 1,000 competitors are expected to compete in the race, with the first group beginning at 10 a.m.

Spectators can view the downhill portions of the race at different points throughout Stowe Mountain Resort and the cross country portion throughout the town of Stowe.
