Laurie Stephens (Wenham, Mass.) was the silver medalist in the women’s sitting division downhill at the Paralympic Games on Thursday.

Alana Nichols (Farmington, New Mex.) was the gold medal winner.

Stephens, who placed fifth in Tuesday’s sitting division giant slalom, is the defending downhill gold medalist from Torino.

“I definitely could have skied a little better,” Stephens said in a U.S. Ski Team press release.

On the men’s side in the sitting division downhill, Chris Devlin-Young (Campton, N.H.) was 13th and Tyler Walker (Franconia, N.H.) did not finish.
