Kasper third in slalom

Nolan Kasper (Warren, Vt.) placed third in Sunday’s slalom event at the U.S. Alpine Championships at Whiteface in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Tommy Ford (Bend, Ore.) was first, followed by Dave Chodounsky (Crested Butte, Colo.) and Kasper.

Sarah Schleper (Vail, Colo.) was the women’s winner, followed by Canada’s Erin Mielinski and Hailey Duke (Boise, Idaho).

Julia Ford (Plymouth, N.H.) took the honor of top junior racer in both the women’s slalom and women’s combined races.
