Freeman turns in top efforts

Kris Freeman (Andover, N.H.) turned in a pair of strong performances in FIS Cross Country World Cup action over the weekend, placing seventh in the men’s 10K Classic on Saturday while finishing 12th in the men’s 15K free technique handicap pursuit race on Sunday.
Both finishes led American men in the events.
Middlebury College product Simi Hamilton was 73rd in the 10K Classic on Sunday, while Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, Vt.) was 89th.
In the women’s Classic 5K on Saturday, Ida Sargent (Orleans, Vt.) was 45th and Liz Stephen (East Montpelier, Vt.) was 72nd.
In the free technique race on Sunday, Freeman was 12th but was as high as fifth before breaking a pole.
In the women’s 10K free technique handicap pursuit on Sunday, Stephen placed 39th.
