Mohawk Mountain
skijournal.com mountain overview:
If Connecticut has a historic ski area, Mohawk is it. Since 1947, this area has been providing skiing with a variety of trails and enough vertical to keep things interesting for advanced skiers. The area's founder, Walt Schoenknecht, was legendary in the ski business as the inventor of snowmaking the year after Mohawk opened. That was the beginning of his visionary contributions to the ski industry and certainly his most important. Schoenknecht went on to other ski areas, but his legacy continues at Mohawk, where modern snowmaking guarantees a solid season every year and a variety of programs keeps families coming back.
