While ski clubs started many ski areas in the early days, most today are now corporate entities with ski clubs that runs racing programs and a few special events. Blandford remains under the auspices of the Springfield Ski Club, which started the area in 1936. The arrangement has been great for local families who take advantage of their memberships to ski Fridays through Sundays, vacations and holidays. An adult membership is $249 and that can be lowered by participating in work days to get the area ready for the season. The purpose of the club as stated 70 years ago is to promote recreational and competitive skiing and programs for all levels to keep the skills improving.
