Eastern Massachusetts
Blue Hills
skijournal.com mountain overview:
Skiers at Blue Hills can watch the traffic on Route 128 with the Boston skyline as a backdrop as they cruise down the runs. Better yet, they can access the area on public transportation rather than fight that highway traffic. Recent upgrades in lifts and snowmaking have made this convenient ski area even more attractive to city skiers. Upwards of 2,000 kids take part in learn-to-ski programs, and on race nights the lifts have to stay open until 11 p.m. to accommodate the 350-plus racers who show up to run the gates. For a small hill, Blue Hills has some steep pitches that make great racing and give the ski school challenging terrain for advanced lessons.
