Jackson Gore Inn is at the center of everything happening at Okemo Mountain Resort

When it comes to ski-in, ski-out lodging, few do it better than Okemo. 

Located about two miles from the original clock tower base, Okemo’s Jackson Gore base area is an ideal destination for visitors looking for more than just skiing during their visit to Ludlow, Vt. Grab your skates and take some spins on the ice at the skating rink; extend your time sliding on snow in the tubing park. 

Oh, yeah, there’s skiing too. Of course. 

“The Jackson Gore courtyard and the way the mountain is set up is really perfect for every guest,” Okemo spokesperson Courtney DiFiore said. “Families can come and have this base camp to have everything they could possibly want. There is their lodging and the lift is right there. There are activities off-snow; in case you’re not a skier or rider you can do other things. And it’s all right there.” 

The Coleman Brook Express quad lift is only steps away from your room at the inn, a convenience that families especially will appreciate with their home base so accessible. As one of the newest properties at Okemo, the Jackson Gore Inn offer the widest variety of on-site amenities including a pool and hot tub. Guests looking for more space or privacy might want to check out the Adams House or the more-upscale Bixby House, both of which boast 1-or-2 bedrooms, complete with kitchen, two bathrooms, and a gas fireplace. 

The proximity to all the actives Okemo has to offer is, clearly, unmatched. 

“Once you get there, you don’t have to go back to your car,” DiFiore said. “You can get onto the slopes, you have your lodging, you have food and beverage options there, live music, gym, pickle ball, tubing. There are other things to do and that is what I think makes it so alluring. You can find something for everybody, not get bored and also not have to spend your time, if you’re on vacation, in the car. Now you’re there and you’re there to enjoy it. Every second.” 

The Jackson Gore Inn, the original property in the village, allows quickest access to the pool, in addition to the Coleman Brook Tavern. With the lift right outside you window, it promises a wealth of activities for everyone. It’s also a premier spot for après activities, whether that includes grabbing a drink, soaking up the sun, or taking a whirl on the mountain coaster. Or, trek on over to the original base area at the clock tower, and experience the quieter vibe that Okemo has to offer. 

“You have choices and there’s terrain for everyone,” DiFiore said. “I just think the setup makes it unique in that sense where you have this base camp you can go to that has absolutely everything. If you don’t need all those bells and whistles, you can go to this other area where it’s low-key, you get what you need, you get on the lift, and have a fun time exploring.” 

This will be the first season post-pandemic that Okemo is back at full throttle, which means a wealth of family-friendly events scheduled in the Jackson Gore Village. Kids can have their own Saturday night playing games, watching movies, and eating pizza if mom and dad want to escape for their own, quiet dinner. A few times each season, Okemo employees will grab torchlights for a parade down the slope, followed by a disc jockey-hosted dance party and a fireworks display. Okemo shoots fireworks off on New Year’s Eve as well, early enough to get the kids to bed in order to get first tracks on the first the following day.
