Based on the recent, moderate temperatures that have infiltrated New England, it’s probably no surprise that Vail Resorts is pushing back its opening dates at local properties Mount Snow, Wildcat, Okemo, and Stowe.
Mount Snow, Wildcat, and Stowe were originally targeted to open Nov. 19, with Okemo following a day later. New dates have not yet been announced.
“While we work hard to meet our target opening dates each year, the date is just that: a target,” Vail spokesperson Adam White said. “Our snowmaking systems throughout Vermont are incredibly powerful and can make a lot of progress fast, but we also need Mother Nature’s cooperation. We’re as excited as anyone to open for the season and hope to do so as soon as possible.
In August, Vail announced that it hoped to have 15 of the company’s North American resorts open for skiing and riding in November. Halfway through the month, only Breckenridge, Vail, and Keystone have begun their seasons.
