Summertime

Purity Spring Resort is an all-encompassing mecca for watersports

By Matt BoxlerMay 8, 2019

A family trip to your favorite mountain lake in the summer is supposed to be stress-free and should include all the water activities that will keep everyone happy. That would mean packing up kayaks and canoes, fishing boats and sailboats, tubes and wakeboards. And did someone want to go waterskiing?

Impossible. Getting on the highway with all the necessary toys lashed to the roof and hitched off the back is not only an impossibility, it’s a perfect recipe for stress. To make it work, compromises must be made and bicycles must be left home, or fishing poles must remain in the basement, or kayaks left in the garage to continue collecting dust.

There’s a simple solution. Purity Spring Resort.

Since 1911, this vacation destination on the shores of Purity Lake in Madison, which is tucked between New Hampshire’s Lakes Region and the White Mountains (and just 15 minutes away from the shopping and dining of North Conway) has been providing stress-free getaways for couples and families, wedding parties and special reunions alike. Owned and operated by the local Hoyt family for five generations, Purity Spring places an emphasis on relaxation without compromising activities.

“We accomplish this by continually developing the property and program to fit the needs of vacationing families, outdoor-oriented individuals, and groups interested in varied recreational and educational pursuits,” says Thomas Prindle, director of marketing. “The Purity Spring Resort experience enlivens the senses, instills well-being and fulfills even the unexpressed wishes and needs of our guests.”

And if your needs are anything and everything to do with the water, you’re in the right place. By purchasing a traditional, full summer fun vacation package, simply put your wallet away, as everything during your stay is included: full breakfast and dinner meal plans, daily scheduled organized activities, boats, mountain biking, lake life recreation, waterskiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, river trips, fitness center and indoor pool, and the weekly summer breakfast cookout and summer lobster bake.

Here’s a breakdown of activities on Purity Lake:

▸ Waterskiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding are offered on a first-come, first-served basis for guests ages 6 or older, three days per week during the summer season. Specific days and times can be found in the resort’s weekly events/activity schedule.

▸ Kayaks, canoes and rowboats are complimentary with your stay and can be found near the footbridge to Purity Island or at the beach across from King Pine.

▸ Fishing: Anglers will find plenty of pickerel and small-mouth bass to catch and release and enough panfish, perch and sunfish to keep all ages involved.

▸ Sailing: Purity Spring offers a 12-foot catamaran for guests, accessible from the King Pine beach across the street from King Pine Ski Area and base lodge.

▸ Lakeside dining at Traditions restaurant and pub accommodates guests for breakfast and dinner, serving classic and creative American comfort food featuring meats, poultry, seafood, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Located in the original inn, the restaurant dining room and pub features a full bar as well as local and regional brews.
