There are many beautiful and unique locations to have a memorable wedding in northern New England. Here is a sampling of some of the scenic and unusual venues around the region.

Ragged Mountain Resort

Ragged Mountain, in Danbury, N.H., offers several sites for an unforgettable day for the bride and groom as well as their guests. The Meadows, at the base of Ragged Mountain, offers a beautiful site for any number of guests. The verdant lawns, majestic pines and graceful birches provide an idyllic setting for the wedding ceremony. The Elmwood Lodge, also called the Red Barn, is replete with rustic charm and classic New England vibes. With a central stone fireplace, a bar, dance floor and seating for up to 200 guests, this space is perfect for a ceremony and reception, or just the reception after the ceremony in the Meadows. The New Hampshire Mountain Inn, just a short drive from the resort, is a historic 1795 New England inn with 25 acres of lawns, gardens and a pond. It is a perfect spot for both a ceremony and reception. The inn’s 11 individual rooms, great room, library, indoor pool and tavern make it an ideal spot for friends or wedding party to enjoy an unforgettable wedding experience. / raggedmountainresort.com

Castle in the Clouds

High above Lake Winnipesaukee in central New Hampshire, the Castle in the Clouds provides a spectacular backdrop for an outdoor wedding. Three locations on the grounds enable couples to have a different setting for various parts of the celebration. The ceremony itself may be held in the Castle Garden at the Lucknow Mansion. The beautifully manicured oval lawn is surrounded by flowers, a lovely fountain and 180-degree views of the lake. From there guests can move, by vintage trolley, to the Carriage House Terrace to enjoy a cocktail hour amidst panoramic vistas. And to complete the day, the Winnipesaukee Room, with its exposed beams and still more broad views, can hold up to 175 people for a more formal reception. / castleintheclouds.org

Mountain Top Inn

In central Vermont, Mountain Top Inn offers a variety of options for a memorable day or weekend for the special couple and their guests. Spread over 700 acres, both wooded and grassy, with sweeping views of the Green Mountains and a 740-acre lake, there are many possibilities for a unique and spectacular setting for a ceremony and reception. Whether the couple chooses the Knoll with its panoramic views, the Terrace adjacent to the Main Lodge with dramatic lake views, the Beach with a lakefront beach pavilion, The Loft on the upper floor of the Barn or a variety of other sites — particularly suited for more intimate, small gatherings — you’ll find a perfect spot for the occasion. There also are ideal spots at the resort for elopements or small, intimate weddings. / mountaintopinn.com
