Kaja Norbye handles the weather, sweeps both World Pro Ski Tour races at Tenney Mountain

Kaja Norbye is finding New Hampshire much to her liking. For the second straight week, she was a big winner in the Granite State.

She earned First Team All-American status from the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association in the giant slalom by placing fifth and helped the University of Utah reclaim the NCAA championship at Dartmouth Skiway on March 5-8.

Much like during the NCAAs, the weather was all over the place. Saturday saw temperatures in the low 60s on a beautiful spring-like day, while Sunday finished with rain and fog, but the course managed to hold up at Tenney Mountain as the World Pro Ski Tour rolled into Plymouth.

Norbye took home $20,000 by winning both the Tenney Pro Open on Saturday and Sunday’s New Hampshire Pro Open.

Along the way, the 25-year-old went through her older sister, Tuva Norbye, on both days, defeating her in Saturday’s semifinals and then in Sunday’s final. The younger Norbye defeated Canadian Erin Mielzynski in Saturday’s final.

Mielzynski pocketed an extra $500 for having the fastest combined qualifying times.

Kaja Norbye also earned a win in January at the WPST’s January stop in Aspen. By winning three of the four races over the circuit’s two weekends, Norbye collected $28,300. Her sister reached the semifinals of all four races with three thirds and a runner-up.

On the men’s side, Christian Soevik of Norway and the University of Denver, who swept the Aspen races, narrowly defeated Filip Forejtek of Czechia in Saturday’s final, but Forejtek picked up the victory on Sunday over Plymouth, N.H., native and UNH racer Hayden Dahl.

Forejtek had been coming off a successful weekend at the NCAAs, finishing as the runner-up in the slalom and third in the GS while representing the University of Colorado.

Dahl was beaten by his UNH teammate Zachary Temertzoglou of Toronto in Saturday’s consolation final. The Canadian finished fourth on Saturday.

Soevik was the fastest in qualifying and pocketed an extra $500.
