Basecamp podcast: Ski NH’s Jessyca Keeler talks what’s new in the Granite State

This season in New Hampshire, there will be “glamping” at Cranmore, new lifts to check out a Attitash, Loon, and Waterville Valley, big birthday celebrations at King Pine and Pats Peak, and a major addition beginning to take shape at Loon Mountain Resort. 

Jessyca Keeler, president of the trade group, Ski New Hampshire, joined New England Ski Journal Basecamp podcast hosts Eric Wilbur and Mike Specian on the latest edition to discuss all the changes happening this season in Granite State skiing and riding. 

“It is my ground zero for skiing,” New Hampshire native Specian said.

On Ski New Hampshire’s role in the industry: 

Keeler: I often tell people that what we do is like a three-legged stool. We do a combination of government relations and advocacy on one leg of the stool, education and networking on the other leg, and on the third leg is marketing and PR-type efforts.

On New Hampshire’s skiing importance: 

Wilbur: It is where I learned to ski, where I learned to love the sport, where I learned how to après, where I learned how to ski the trees where…you name it. I learned most of it in New Hampshire. It’s probably the place I’ve skied the most in my life.

On the history of New Hampshire skiing: 

Specian: There’s so much history in New Hampshire. You talk about Cranmore with the snowmobile, the ski train that used to dump everybody right up in town. The Austrians coming over to teach skiing. You look at some of those pictures, it’s just incredible. Because the history, the skiing, the people… it’s a live free or die state. Come and join us, folks.
