Four New Englanders are scheduled to be among more than 8,000 elite and amateur cyclists competing in the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships later this summer in Glasgow, Scotland.
Thirteen events will be contested across seven disciplines over 11 days beginning Aug. 3. USA Cycling recently announced its teams for the cross-country marathon mountain bike and E-MTB teams with a total of 13 athletes heading to Glasgow.
Patrick Collins (Worcester, Mass., Assabet River Bicycles), Chris Mehlman (Manchester, N.H.), and Kelly Cattle (Pepperell, Mass., Team KellCat) are New Englanders who were named to the cross-country marathon bike team. Trevor Bouchard, from Manchester, N.H., is one of three members of the E-MTB team.
Other disciplines to be held at the championships include BMX freestyle, indoor cycling, and mountain bike downhill. USA Cycling will be making more roster announcements in the coming weeks.
