Any day on skis is a great day, but those sunny days in late March or early April when the snow is still abundant in the mountains and most flatlanders have turned their focus to warmer pursuits are in a class of their own.

The thought of getting the first chair is something that drives many of us during the winter months … the feeling of corduroy underfoot while the masses are slowly making their way over to the mountain.
But when the temperature goes through the freeze-thaw cycle, being the first one on the mountain isn’t nearly as fun as your teeth get rattled going over the frozen cord. Those runs during the late morning, however, are simply sublime.
